Our Story of Craftsmanship
We are a small family owned wood working business located in Middle Tennessee that prides ourselves in the quality of our work. In 2016 Scott decided to follow in his dads footsteps by creating unique custom pieces in his garage for close friends and family.
In 2020, a 200 year old white oak tree fell on his property which ignited a passion in Scott to turn trees into tables. He began to invision what life was like 200+ years ago. The war of 1812 was over, but America was 50 years from the start of the Civil War. James Monroe was president. The industrial revolution was just beginning. The state of Tennessee was just a young sapling at 23 years old.
Two hundred years later, you now hold a piece of history, both from the beauty of nature and the state of Tennessee in your home. No factory could reproduce this treasured piece. As you enjoy your beautiful piece, let's not forget all the storms this tree has weathered before it was reclaimed for you. Our passion at Garage Knots is to provide a piece and place for your family to gather and build memories. My commitment and goal is to use local trees from TN in order to reclaim these stories in our quest to build heirloom pieces.
Our Custom Designs
Garage Knots works diligently to create legacy pieces anywhere from exquisite charcuterie boards to timeless dining room tables. Each piece is meticulously designed and handcrafted for you which is a testament to the artistry and dedication of Garage Knots TN. Your journey with us is an invitation to experience the beauty of custom woodworking, where every creation tells a story. Every piece is handcrafted by Scott in the shop - I flatten the original slab using a 2" router bit set in a gantry system, meticulously sand each piece starting at 60 grit to a finished paper of 320 grit. I use epoxy to fill in all the cracks and level so the the finish is smooth to the touch. I finish with a food grade satin clear coat to accentuate all the natural beauty. I utilize a combination of both wood legs and metal legs for the most durable, life lasting one-of-a- kind furniture that will bring a lifetime of memories!

Our commitment to offering custom, exclusive and handmade woodworking is matched by our dedication to providing reasonable pricing. We understand that quality and affordability should go hand in hand, and that's why we take pride in creating one-of-a-kind pieces that don't break the bank. Our process for building these heirloom pieces is extremely labor intensive. I choose to use hand tools that I have used as well as my father and grandfather over the years. There is nothing more satisfying than using a hand planer (pictured to the left) to achieve the flattening process. There is not a template that is used for every piece since every piece is one-of-a kind and obviously extremely unique! This is what helps differentiate us at GarageKnotsTN!
